Getting to Know the Contenders

Binaural Beats

Binaural Beats are actually a type of auditory illusion, created and heard inside your head.
No actual beat is sent into your ears, just two plain tones at different frequencies.
The beat is created by sending tones of a slightly different frequency into each ear, resulting in the listener hearing a ‘perceived’ beat at the frequency equal to the difference between the two tone frequencies.
An example of these beats would be:

A tone of 200Hz is sent to the left ear
A tone of 210Hz is sent to the right ear

The brain recognises that the tones are different in each ear and naturally converts the two different tones into a single beat, known as a binaural beat.

Points to Ponder:

  • You always need headphones to hear Binaural Beats tracks effectively.
  • Produces a very shallow waveform which can be more pleasant to listen to, but it only produces a very small ‘cortical evoked response’ in the brain.
  • Not effective in the higher beta and gamma range frequencies
  • You can’t target a specific side of the brain, just the whole brain.
Isochronic Tones

Isochronic tones are consistent regular beats of a single tone.  To explain it in the simplest of terms, an isochronic tone is a tone being switched on and off very quickly.

The speed at which the tone is switched on and off is measured in terms of Hertz (Hz)

The amazing thing about Isochronic Tones are that different frequencies can target specific parts of the brain to produce desired results. They can produce a quick and powerful shift in brainwave states to create beneficial results in one’s life so we can all feel more empowered to transform our brain waves for better health, performance, mood, and long term memory.

Points to Ponder:

  • They produce a more distinct tone/beat, which results in a stronger ‘cortical evoked response’ in the brain, making the stimulation more effective.
  • Standard sessions/tracks don’t require headphones.
  • You have the ability to stimulate each side of the brain with a different frequency of beat, allowing you to lower or increase the activity in one side of the brain.
The Results

Although both are effective in providing a relaxed state to open the subconcious mind to become more receptive, Isochronic Tones is the clear winner for a few reasons.

Isochronic tones have a significantly broader depth of modulation than binaural beats. This pronounced beat causes the brain to react more strongly towards your brainwave activity.
It is this process that makes stimulation of the brainwave by isochronic tones extremely effective.

The tones can be customized to promote specific brain states depending on the needs. They can promote a better atmosphere for learning, healing, meditation and receptive ability.

They can also be used effectively without the need of headphones which is a necessity for Binaural Beats to work.

It is a matter of choice and although we do offer both methods for brain stimulation our clear preference for performance is the Isochronic Tones.

Tones or Beats?

changing your brainwave frequency

ShopBinaural beats have an instant advantage as they are well-established, first being discovered in 1839. Because of their tenure, they have had the opportunity for extensive study and becoming popular due to their effectiveness. Thusly they have had a strong hold on the market for years.

Isochronic Tones are much younger showing up on the scene in 1999, thus having a more limited amount of research data and feedback available. While this may be considered a drawback for those unfamiliar with them, most feedback upon the research has been positive and have shown Isochronic tones to be very beneficial.

While Binaural Beats have been around for a long time and been proven to be powerful and very effective in many studies, Isochronic Tones have shown to take effect immediately while showing higher results in targetting specific areas of the brain to enhance specific functions.
